Duvha 600MW unit damaged during routine test

Power utility Eskom has started an investigation into a fire at its Duvha power station in Mpumalanga, after a 600 MW unit at the power station was severely damaged during a routine turbine test.

Err...no eskom always operates with some units off. They'll just ask one of the other stations to bring one on if they need more power.

I actually drove past Matla & noticed a unit off. You can tell by the lights.

In any case the Duvha units are scheduled for renewal & upgrades starting early next year.
