DVD Drive & Blank DVDs

Have you tried a new IDE cable? Doubt it will help, but it can't hurt. See if you can get an IDE hard drive to plug in and see if that reads properly. Just to rule out damage to the IDE controller on the motherboard. If you're out of SATA ports, you could always buy a PCI SATA card and give yourself some more ports.

Yes and I did and stil no luck. I realised today while using my dad's laptop that it did the same with the whole batch of that blank DVDs. Only difference is that it still detects blank CDs. What the hell is going on!?!?!
