Hi

I was busy writing a dual layer dvd, went out and came back, when i got back IMG burn was on sync* cache for past hour...try cancel ...nothing...so i restart win 7... when i restarted both my drives was gone...my samsung and Deamon tools virtual drive...restarted again...nothing...go to device manger uninstall ...scan again for hardware changes, it does pick the drives up, but give me the fail to install error. Now in device manager both have yellow "uitroep teken" .

What can be wrong? Can understand maby my dvdwriter broke..but why did virtual drive also "dissapeard" ??

PS: also did system restore to yesterday..stil the same!

This is a weird problem. Have you actually switched off your PC completely, at the plug, and not just a normal shutdown?

If its a SATA DVD writer, then you can always plug it in another SATA port and see if that doesn't make any difference either, but I doubt that any of these things would make a difference but its always worth a shot :)

Ditch Daemon Tools and use Gizmo Central instead.
First uninstall Daemon Tools, reboot, and then install Gizmo Central and then reboot again.

If you can't get your DVD writer up and running again, then I'd suggest that you try it in another PC first, before trying to swapping it out (if it is still under warranty).

got it back , used this help : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116 ( had to delete some stuff in registry, wish i knew what happend than just solving it)

weird thing is , the dvd was 100% done, so when i get drive back, it still showed empty, so i write to same disc again till 81% then starting to give me errors...writing to new disc now, hope it works again.

Just bought this new drive to my old one failed all the disc...hope that hour of standing stil in sync* cache did not broke it..again.

Try write it at a much slower speed. Could be the make and quality of disk which is affecting your successful write rate.

how can the quility of the disc, make my drive and virtual drives dissapear and corrupt?

Can you go into Device Manager and uninstall the IDE controller that is above your drives, reboot windows and let it find the drivers again for the drives.
It should install a new version/copy of the driver.
