My acer laptop had a DVD/CRW rom.
I can play certain dvd's, but other's i can't, especially new ones.
My region is 2, which is RSA.

I've tried uninstalling, and let windows reinstall it....
No go.

Please help.

hav u tried a codec? 'cause that was my problem, r u trying 2 play on windows media player?

Check the ASPI layer of your Windows installation.
There's an Adaptec program called ASPICHK - Google for it.

Otherwise your DVD-drive's lens may be dirty or misalligned.
If its the latter it needs servicing.

You may need a firmware update, Google for the
name as shown by Control Panel of your DVD device.

You may need to upgrade your
PowerDVD product. Also try the 21 free day trial of AnyDVD too
at Slysoft.com, you'll need it with PowerDVD and VLC.
