DVD recorder question.

I want to buy a DVD recorder but know ziltch on this and need to know the following;
1) Does the TV antenna plug into this and does it have a HDMI to the TV?
2) Does it overwrite as a VCR or do I have to format the disk every time?

(1) Yes it plugs in. Not all have HDMI though. It does not matter if you're not going to watch any HD stuff. For me the component output to tv looks better than the HDMI.
(2) If you buy a pure dvd recorder with no harddrive, then there may be issues with that. Only the really cheap ones don't have harddrives. Those with harddrives have no overwrite/formatting issues.

I see now. The recordable has a hard drive plus a DVD player.
So when digital tv comes in, we can dump our VCR's if you have a digital ready TV?
