are you wanting to back it up in case it gets stolen before the end of your rental period?

wow, the crime is really bad these days! ;)

Try this...

Free DVD Backup Software...

1) To make a backup of a DVD to another DVD...
Install this program first... it will remove the copy protection and macrovision while you decrypt... (and will also allow you to watch region protected discs in the future)...
http://www.dvd43.com/
When you have that installed, then use DVD Decrypter to rip the DVD to your hard drive...

Once you have it ripped to your hard drive, use DVD shrink to make the image smaller and turn it into an ISO file that I can fit onto one DVD... Note: you have to select ISO image as the target file from the drop down menu.

Once you have the ISO image you can use this program to burn it back to a DVD...

2) To Rip a DVD to an AVI file...
The free version of this program can rip any DVD to a 700 Mb AVI (XVid) File...

3) To turn video files back into a DVD...

Slysoft CloneDVD. Does everything in one program.

I'll ignore the renting part and assume instead that you meant to say backing up your existing DVDs :p

+1 great program
No need for Xvid or Divx's. A full 4.7GB DVD with original quality

Actually i do not have any mp3's on my system and the only music is copies of music i own which is not to say very many. No movies and zero illegal games aint i a saint :D

p.s. heaven forbid but even my os is fully legal

Good on you then. I on the other hand will happily admit to being a pirate ( in certain circumstances that is ) and don't really feel bad about it either. Its the designers/owners/companies/artists problem if he over-prices his product.

Edit: Not that im condeming it, but i just dont see the use in paying for something that is actually not worth what its said its worth.

I never said its not worth having, just mean its not worth paying for. If someone came to me and said, either buy it or lose it, ill rather lose it.

I agree on the part of software being worth having but not worth paying for. Operating Systems is a good example of this, how do they justify the cost of the OS
