My dvd writer suddenly burns very slowly. Nero gave me a warning that DMA is not enabled on my drive (this happened out of the blue). I checked my settings for ATA/Atapi in device manager and the secondary channels are all set to DMA if possible except in device 0 where the current transfer mode is PIO only. There is no option to change this.
What could possibly ahve happened?

Uninstall the DVD writer from device manager, then restart your PC. It will reinstall your DVD writer when the PC starts up. Everything should then be set to DMA.

mercurial is close, but that wont help. you will have to remove the controller the dvd burner is attached to, then just reboot. the other way is via the registry and setting the error count back to zero, but it is way easier to just remove the secondary ide controller or whatever and reboot

tried mercuraial's suggestion still no luck.
ok uninstalling the secondary channel seems to have worked...
thanks
