Thats news to me. Why should it not work anymore? Cause they can't change any of the underlying CSS encryption since this would make old DVD players useless.

Sony and Disney use various CSS variations which still work with DVD players but give issues when decrypting the DVD, protection schemes
such as ARccOS.

DVDDecrypter typically does not work, on its own, on R2 DVDs released subsequent to development on it being stopped.

Works fine for me on 90% of the DVDs I have, including the latest ones!

Have not come across too many that it won't rip.

A trojan horse? I've been using that software since 2000, since
I had to pay for it. Who said it had a trojan horse? Your AV software
must be wonky.... running RS on this laptop right now.

I flashed my Mac Pro's DVD drive into a Region Free NEC, this laptop into a region free drive, another NEC burner into a DVD Free drive, my dad's Toshiba - you'll probably be able to find a firmware to flash your drive with. However if you flash your drive,
the region protection in the software (PowerDVD/WinDVD) will kick in. You can
use DVD Region Killer for that (it's free).

My RemoteSelector doesn't work for the newest PowerDVD/WinDVD releases but
if you have an old version from 2000-2004 you'll be able to use it. You don't need
to flash the drive with RS. You can also get DVD Region Free from Fengtao software
or use AnyDVD. I think DVD43 is from Fengtao it's part of their package.

I used a program called Media Player Classic, found on sourceforge. Played my Region 1 Stargate-SG1 dvd's with no problem. Granted I don't have a huge library of dvd's to check, but I think it may do the job ok.

As others have mentioned there is also AnyDVD. A highly recomended program
