Has anyone had issues with DVDCrave and their credit card verification process?

The first time you order from them, they process a small charge to your card; you then have to tell them how much the charge was, and then they go on to process the full charge (less the small bit). They say it should take 24 hours for the small charge to show.

I got their email saying they'd done the small charge last Thursday, but because it takes a bit longer for international transactions to show, it hasn't turned up on my account yet (and I'm just hoping the exchange rate doesn't go up too much in the mean time! but that's another issue).

Yesterday (Monday) I mailed them saying that it hasn't shown up yet because it takes a bit longer for international, just in case they thought I'd abandoned my order, and they replied saying that they do sometimes have international orders who just never get back to them, so what they do is email them after 7 days, and if there's no reply after another 7 days they cancel the order.

Now today I get email from them saying that if I haven't verified the smaller charge with them within 24 hours, they'll cancel the order! I have (of course) mailed them back, mostly repeating what I said yesterday and what they said in reply; I hope they'll realise that they're not following their own procedure and that I do still want the order.

But how long should I have to wait for that smaller charge to come through? Has anyone else had any problems with the verification step?

International charges on my card come through quickly, but this probably varies from bank to bank.

yeah, I'm with ABSA, international charges almost never take more than a day, usually it's just a few hours, HOWEVER I alos know ABSA holds transactions and may freeze a card if a transaction is performed away from your "home town".

They will try to phone you and verify that you did perform the transaction before they process it.

They shouldn't need to phone, since I've cleared my credit card for international transactions. In fact, a US$ transaction went through a couple of weeks ago without any problems.

Guess I'll just have to be patient, and maybe get in touch with the bank if it hasn't come through in a couple of days. As long as DVDCrave are prepared to be a little patient as well - or to at least give me the 7 + 7 days they mentioned in the first email.

With FNB everything that I bought online has come through pretty immediately, as in you're still on the site and get the sms...

Got my games today! :D (Actually they arrived Friday, but I could only get to the post office today).

Now I just need the darn console.... hopefully when BTGames say 'available 28/09', they mean the courier will deliver to me on the 28th, not they'll send it out on the 28th... don't want to have to wait another weekend!

Tx useless, I see on their site that it's now available rather than pre-order - and I got a reply to the email I sent them; apparently "if all goes well" they'll ship it out today :D

Hi,

I cannot access btgames website from work. What is the cost of the wii at btgames? Any bundles available?

Will appreciate the feedback.

Tnx

BTGames price is R2899, with about R65 delivery. No specials or bundles, unfortunately.

They got Zelda for sale apparently which is one of the best Wii games out there if you are a Zelda fan. :)
