Hey guys, got any useful info on Tanking for me? Some links to documentation? Started playing wow about 2 weeks ago, picked up at level 23, level 48 atm. Im on Burning Blade atm, getting to me though, nobody is English and the people play like horrific idiots in instances....

Thunder clap, Sunder sunder sunder sunder.

If multi mobs, Use Cleave when ever is it ready.

Easy as that :)

Wowhead is your friend ... be new comer or old vet.

http://www.wowhead.com/?forums&board=11 has just about all the info you'll need as a starting out Warrior player ... give it a read and feel free to post further questions on here.

We'll be sure to make fun of you for a while - but eventually you'll get the help you need :D

What Pitbull said.

Rinse and repeat :p

I forgot the shouts :o

Demo and Battle shout when ever they expire.
And rotate the targets you have on you. It's rather easy once you get the hang of it. But unfortunately some people really really struggle at it :( (I blame it on being 5 years old :p)

You have been lurking on this forum for ages and still ended up on a "wrong" server?
There are a lot of mature servers out there with people speaking English and know what to do in instances, unfortunately there are a lot of idiots out there as well making some servers unplayable.

As for tanking... Learn how to deal with threat, Install Omen threat meter and work on your threat per second. The game now involves a lot of AOE fights so multi mob tanking is essential!
As tank you need to always have the best gear for your level! Being able to absorb damage requires the best gear with the best enchants. And since you most likely will always be struggling to find good healers taking as little as possible damage is a good thing.

There are a lot of tank guides out there, but I believe that while you are leveling you need to discover the tricks of tanking your self. Guides should only help you improve not make you just another x/x/x tank.

Like the one lad from our guild said last night:

"In the next patch they're changing Titan-grip to allow warriors to dual-wield gnomes" :D.

Then he warned us all that he's not about to become anybody's OH.

Oh and my warrior threat rotation involves a lot of Devestate and Shield Slam. Retaliate whenever it is available.
Thunderclap on more than 1 target and boss fights to reduce incoming damage or to hold aggro on more than one target.

I don't know about the new tallent trees but this used to be a high level talent. Very effective I might add :)

*cough* Real men tank with a 2h in zerker ;)

Funny that you should mention that.

Back when Prince Phase 2 was still hard I read a very funny thread on the official forums where some Arms Warrior was asking for advice on Tanking Prince.
He adamantly maintained he had all the necessary mitigation Talents and that there was no reason he could not tank Prince, except that he kept dying.

It made for a good lol.

I actually miss crushing blows in a way, my sphincter no longer clenches quite like it used to

Play a dk with 530 def offtanking the VoA boss... I was dropping bricks everytime the MT got swallowed :p

DK's take quite a bit of spike damage :(

But... (derailing)

Dk's are very nice in that you can get a res on go straight back to tanking/dpsing :)

Tanks with less then 540 Def fail, even if they're OT.
There is no reason to run around below defense cap.

True, as a DK its harder (as you know?), luckily next patch is on its way. Tanking isnt my main spec though, I have a tank set that I slowly upgrade when tanking plate drops which has 530 def on it. The only other choice in that VoA run was a fury warrior with no tanking gear

I'm a DK. All it takes as a freshly dinged 80 is crafting some of the Tempered Saronite set, getting your Argent Crusade Helm enchant and gemming correctly.

Even when running Heroics I'd recommend getting min of 540 Defense.

Remember you don't just hit 540 and then stop getting Defense. It's still a mitigation stat, it's just less desirable then Parry/Dodge.

Once you're capped you'll just prioritise TPS stats a bit.
