Hi,

Does anyone recommend a specific dynamic dns service that I can use?

Just received my iBurst today, signal strength is 100% and I'm pretty happy so far :D

I am using no-ip.com - pretty much the same thing.

Unfortunately I am using a PCMCIA iburst effort so router has no use :|

I'm also using DynDNS with the router updating.

Small note here: I was using DD-WRT v23 SP1 on my router, and it stopped updating DynDNS for some reason (I think DynDNS changed something on their side, judging by the error message). I updated to one of the nightly versions, and the problem has been solved.

I was using http://www.dynamic-dns.co.za until the trial ran out. I forgot about it and today I wanted to pay for the service and carry on using it only to find that the site no long works and the dynamic updater says 'not available offline'.

Can somebody tell me if DynDNS works on a national only ADSL account?

DynDNS.org works well with any ADSL account, although DynDNS is international, local traffic should get the correct DNS parameters from local DNS servers.

Hi,
If anyone wants a local only bandwidth solution packaged with dyndns, speak to Vanilla

Is this meant as an advertisement for your site, or to point us to information relevant to Dyn-DNS? After around 5 clicks I still weren't able to find any information relevant to your statement.

Did you mean we should get their telephone number from the site and phone them, or did you just want to get your hit-rate up for today?

LOL...

I realised today that you have to use an international connection (havn't tested this yet) otherwise you linux machine cannot connect to dyn-dns to register its new ip. This is crappy because now you have to pay the uber price of international b/w for local only traffic.

I know telkom has a solution where they bundle local and international b/w into one package - maybe I should look into this.

Any recommendations?

There seems to be quite a bit of interest in a local Dynamic DNS type service. I have done some reading on and it is likely that I could implement it on my hosting network.

Please PM if you would be interested in this and I'll work on it. You can be the BETA users :D

Sounds cool, what do you need?
