Ok here is the problem, i need to be able to connect, from the net, to a PC, running a web server on my home network that makes a pppoe connection to a mweb local only account.

Obviously the usually dyndns / no-ip.com dyndns providers wont work as i dont have international access on the webserver. It does not seem that mweb have "in build" dyndns like web africa or axxess. I had hoped that i could access the webserver via the routers connection and port forward to the webservers local ip, but no go.

So does anyone know of a local dyndns provider, or is their some other way. I do have a small local web hosting account that is idle and wondered if their is a way to do some sort of redirect from that url to my local machine.

Any ideas. You guys have not failed me before.

I have a dynamic dns setup at my data center, message me in the morning and perhaps we can work something out.

Hey , i know w1z4rd probably sorted you out , but if you want to i have written a article and app that will allow you to use it (dyndns) with local only bandwidth

Thanks for that.

What i actually did was find a script that updates a locally hosted website (a "idle" site that i had") with my ip whenever it changes. I then use a redirect script on the website to get back to the machine i need to access - surprisingly works really well!!

+1 Would be so easy for RDP and such no checking Saix user stats, etc.

Hi
Sorry about that , i guess i was focusing way too much on developers , to use this download this exe and extract it.

You now have 2 options , you can use the command prompt and manually enter the parameters or set it in the config file.

I recommend the config file so this is what you need to change. You can open the file with notepad or wordpad , just about any text editor.

File name : DynDNSUpdater.exe.config

Step 1 : Go to line 31 , change the word test to your username
Step 2 : Go to line 34 , change the number 1123 to your password
Step 3 : Go to line 37 , change the word test to your site name , eg test.homeip.net

save the file and the next time you run the app it will auto read the values and update accordingly , obviously if you dont want to save the details , simply pass them as parameters when calling the exe from the command prompt.
