@PBCool - Is it normal for an assigned Public IP address to change this quickly? The trend appears to be flipping between the same two IP's - lets call them A and B. After I rebooted the fibre router this morning at 8.27am, I got IP "A". According to my router logs I was given IP "B" at 7.05pm this evening.

Looking back in my router logs every time I reboot I get "A" - but something keeps assigning me back to "B".

Are you or anyone else able to shed any light?

Should I be posting this in this thread rather ? "Cool Ideas Fibre ISP – Feedback Thread 3"

It's hard to say but I suspect you are bouncing between access routers, which is fine. Your IP typically won't change so long as your session stays up.

Thanks @PBCool the reason I ask is because I have a suspicion that my network stability / performance is bad on IP "B".
Is this possible? Have done some traces between the two over the weekend but nothing conclusive.
Were there issues on Cool Ideas (over MTN fibre) last week? Friday I was down for most of the day but other selected days were also bad. Will do some tracing when its really bad again.
What would drop my session? Is it my WiFi router or MTN CPE?

Yes we have had ongoing issues with our MTN NNI just dying, it was mentioned in the other thread a couple times. MTNs technical team are investigating.

@PBCool So this is my current picture.

Check out the packet loss.

I have logged a second support call - first one Friday (issue recurring on and off for about 2 weeks before that)

At around 12.30pm today after working all morning my connection just dumped. When I was chatting to support we went through the direct connection to fibre router test. It connected but very erratic. According to the lady I chatted to the call has been escalated.

Please can you expedite in any way?

I am an educator and need to engage with students daily. Anything you can do would be appreciated.

Thank You.

This could be as the NNI dies and you route via Cape Town, until the NNI issue is fixed there is no point in really chasing stuff. We have a script that cycles the NNI if it dies as a hack for the time being.

How long could the NNI fix be?

Well the script should resolve most issues, the NNI flaps from a day to every few days at the moment.

And we have escalated as much as we can with MTN.

Since the last change by MTN no flap as yet.

I thought the last change they had to reverse ? (And dump my connection) Was the latest change subsequent to that?

Yes they made the change without letting us know, which dropped all customers in JHB then reversed that. Then we did a synchronised change which didn't impact customers.
