I'd like to get myself a tablet reading device, but it needs to have a very good readable screen, as well as be able to read graphic PDF files well. Eyes are suffering from old age and abuse.

Kindles are nice but don't handle the PDF graphic thing well.

My 6" kindle handles engineering books just fine. The problem I have is the small screen.
 
The problem, is most, of the PDF's I have are colour, and not made for Kindle, even if you use Calibri to convert them ...
 
Get some form of iPad; preferably the iPad3/4 retina, although the iPad Mini might be better size-wise for reading on. I'm just thinking about the screen. There isn't a better reading screen on the market anywhere than the iPad3 retina display. I read full PDF books on mine.

I've used the Kindle Fire HD and Nexus 7. Both are great to use for all kinds of reading.
 
Been looking, and so far, have not seen the Kindle Fire or the Nexus 7 available locally. Looking at the spec sheet, a Nexus 7 is very attractive. I am tending to favour the Galaxy Note 10.1, but have as yet to make much of a decision yet.
 
I'd go with Nexus 7 or Nexus 10 (give it 2 months and prices will go down on the 10).

Adobe reader worked perfectly for me on the Nexus 7 and you can also run the Kindle app if you don't actually want to buy a Kindle for book reading.

Nexus 7 is the best of the lot as far as Android tabs go. It's far better than the Note 10.1 which got universally terrible reviews (and only has a 1280x800 screen @ 10' size which is very low by present standards). For e-reading particularly with bad eyes you want the highest density, brightest, least reflective screen you can get. That's why I recommend iPad3 at the top, but Nexus7 is also not a bad choice at all. Nexus7 is available for r3000 locally for 32gb 3g (iirc).
 
Think I'll wait awhile, before I make my choice, used to read on my laptop, until it got "affirmatively" acquired, by some house breakers. But this was rather awkward, thus my query.
