E-cigarettes are exploding in people’s faces

False. I'd go as far as to say that the majority of smokers who started wouldn't have if they knew of the life of addiction it led to. Consider the fact that a lot, if not most smokers started when they were teens or pre-teens: do you really think they actually understood what they were getting into at the time? It's no coincidence that tobacco companies used to target that age group: they knew they'd get them hooked and have customers for life.

Nope, people do stupid ****.

If you are a moron and don't observe battery safety then, yes, this could happen.
Its an issue with all batteries...lithium batteries just tend to be explode-y if you get a bad batch. See Samsung recalling their phone batteries.

Dodgy mods certainly increase the risk though...

Nicotine has still been shown to damage your DNA and vaping will not help with that.
Nicotine has been shown to be a useful and beneficial chemical.

Yes, people are still taking in nicotine, the poisonous defence system of the nightshade family, but it's vastly different to smoking burning tobacco and paper. Even the absorption of the nicotine via vaping is different.
They need to reformulate the chemical content, so that electronic cigarettes deliver something more like the chemical mix of tobacco. It's basically irrelevant that nicotine in sufficient doses is lethal. It's not in the useful doses consumed by humans.

People smoke because it literally does make them feel better in a way.
Which has nothing to do with any alleged brain rewiring. They consume it for enjoyment and its other benefits. All that reward nonsense ignores the fact that we're dealing with people, not rats locked in a tiny cage.

It's very helpful for people addicted and suffering from the 'real thing' because it has a similar action, satisfies the nicotine cravings and is not nearly as dangerous.
Unfortunately one of the reasons some people go back to tobacco is because the simplistic idea of including only nicotine is a problem. They need to add in the other chemicals that go with it in tobacco.

Or they buy the cheapest China knock off they can find at a dodgy smoke shop.
This kind of news should make it clear that it's cheap devices and dodgy batteries causing the explosions because this kind of thing appearing in the mainstream media just makes vaping look like a bad thing.
That is the aim. Campaigners have always wanted to take nicotine away from people. In the past it was intrinsically linked to tobacco smoking, and so they could rub their hands in glee, enjoying the fact that those who insisted on getting the benefits of nicotine would be severely damaged by smoking. Then to their horror came along other convenient ways of ingesting nicotine, the most terrifying being the electronic cigarette. The puritans nearly tramped each other in their stampede to find ways to demonise these evil things that might allow nicotine consumers to ingest their drug without incurring massive harm.

It's a risk I acknowledge. And there is a risk of dying with any form of transport yet transport is a necessity, smoking is not.
That is merely saw opinion. Nicotine is a highly useful chemical. It is well worth using.
