Hey guys,

I was looking at getting one of these overseas and wanted to price them in SA. I've been looking at the online stores but could only find a couple at Kalahari, and some at WantItAll (no doubt imported, which kinda defeats the point).

Are these just not very popular in SA? Anyone know anywhere else online I can find them?

Thanks ;)

get a kindle on Amazon mine is I got one in November and have had no issues...

Kindle purchased direct from Amazon

Get a kindle directly from Amazon, last year mine came to about R2500 total (and Amazon handles all the charges and give you a final total).

Ditto - purchased a Kindle direct from Amazon in December for around R2,500, which included (as prepaid) airfreight, import duty, VAT & local door-to-door courier charges.

Having imported from Amazon in the past I looked at the courier's invoice & found that it was more than the amount charged by Amazon. Called to courier to ask if I was responsible for the difference: 'no' said the courier !

The absolute cherry on the cake: in February (?) I found that my MasterCard had been credited with just over R300 - as an 'over-recovery' [by Amazon] of delivery charges. I couldn't see any 'over-recovery' but hey, I'm not one to complain ... :)

The price of the Piel Frama Kindle case that I purchased also came with reduced prepaid airfreight and other charges.

With e-readers there's basically Kindle and everything else. Nook is the closest runner up in the e-ink wars. Sony is fast becoming an also-ran. The others are more or less generic. Which one specifically are you looking for?

I got an email from Amazon this morning saying they are refunding $54.89 on the "export charge" for my Kindle. That's a few more books! :D
