I have a Gigabyte X58UD3 and have plugged the E sata cable from the back of the machine via the onboard E sata slot and then into my media player, also has E sata but cannot see it, it does nothing.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Is the media player E-Sata port not for adding additional storage to itself ? What is the make and model of the media player ?

Novatron, I dont think so, I think it is to connect to Pc for higher speeds in transfering

Have a look at the specs for this Novatron @ http://sulit.com.ph/1330183 (about 1/2 way down the page) ..... The e-SATA is for connecting additional SATA storage to the device.

SATA HDD
Supports Serial ATA hard drives (SAT) 3'5" in any capacity. Easy and quick installation without screws. External conection eSATA

If you dont boot up with the device plugged you need to go to device manager and scan for hardware changes.

Got nothing to do with the original question posed. Both devices (the MB and the media device) have e-sata ports for connecting to hard drives for additional storage. Not for connecting SATA port to SATA port. It wont work. Read the specs from the link posted (post #4).

Then I misread. Yes, it is for connecting external hard drives via esata.
