Ditto that. Easy for me to say though, I'm from the CapeIt's heartwarming to see the results of this poll glad to see people are taking a stand against such blatant corruption.
To those 4 people that got tagged, shame on you for betraying your fellow countrymen, do the right thing and throw that piece of **** away!
Wow! That is truly amazing. Kudos to her and her posse for pursuing the bastards. Hero!I am proud of my stepmother, she and the ratepayers of Sedgefield (near Knysna) stopped two bids (one unsolicited and one from SANRAL) for a Toll Road at Groenvlei which is a naturally occurring fresh water lake on the N2 between Sedgefield and Knysna.
The bids started back around 2005 and the Ratepayers through the members (Engineer, Advocate and the members) fought SANRAL all the way even up to Gauteng, the final nail was put into the bids coffin a by the DA led Council recently, some 8 years after after the initial bid.
My step mother reckons that Nazir Alli and the people that work at SANRAL are arrogant and their arrogance will be their downfall, they are not interested what the people have to say, they have their orders and unless you counter them swiftly and decisively they will continue until they get what they want.
Ultimately it is the people that suffer with Toll Roads as it impacts all levels of the economy and especially the poor people, actually the mind boggles had a gantry been erected at Groenvlei.
I find it refreshing that a small team of determined ratepayers saw SANRAL for what it is more than 8 years ago, challenged them and won.
I am proud of my stepmother, "snip"
Ask your folks, it was about 8 years ago when the bids first started. The residents of Sedgefield filled the Town Hall in protest much to the Toll Bidders shock and behind the scenes the paperwork continued for years and only recently was the final step taken when the Knysna Council closed the lid on it once and for all.Wow thats great to hear, I'm wondering if there is news in the local Edge about it. I'll try to get some details. (Yeah I also live there, moved away from parents since)

It is the right thing to do.
