According to the Beeld newspaper, toll fees will work as follow:

Registered users with e-Tags:

30c per kilometer. Money taken from your account per day / when a certain amount is reached.

If no fees in your account - 7 days to pay. After 7 days fee adjusted to R1,74 per kilometer.

Not Registered without e-Tag

58c per kilometer. Have 7 days to pay from the day passing through gantry.

If not paid in 7 days, fee adjusted to R1,74 per kilometer.

Late Payments:

Pay before 30 days: 60% discount on the R1,74 tariff.
Pay before 30 days and Register: Get another 6.67% (thus 66.67%) discount.

Pay After 30 days, but before 60 days: 30% Discount on the R1.74 tariff.

Pay after 60 days: No more discounts - pay the full amount.

All transactions after 60 days will be merged and sent to the road user and a criminal case automatically opened with authorities.

Oh how I wish they would stop peddling this 30c/km nonsense!! It is blatant lies.

Each gantry has a fixed price. There is no kilometre pricing factored into e-tolls except to arrive at an 'average per km price across the entire system'. It is nothing but a smoke screen.

It is very very easy to drive only a few hundred metres on the highway and incur the full gantry price, then take the next offramp.

You effectively get screwed over big time.

Exactly.

They will also probably work out which Gantries are the most "popular" and make a plan to hike up those prices first when the first tariff revision takes place.

Eventually once everyone is registered and paying, they will be able to control your pocket and there is nothing you will be able to do about it.

so there is what, 4 days before the roads are bombed to ****?

Indeed I believe this was pointed out about 2 years ago... seems people have forgotten.

Yes, I agree.

I guess what these f**kers are saying is that if one gantry costs R2.00 that will be the fee that registered users will pay. Users without e-tags will pay R3.86 for that same gate.

If you don't pay within 7 days, you will get a statement of R11.60 (if you have an e-tag but no money in your account), or R22.39 (if you have no e-tag).

This is if the 30c/km is only an average. It will then work out 5.8 times the amount.
