Was thinking the same thing. This panel will take a year to make a decision. Waste of money. Unless you are are corrupt as hell, there is no reason to even discuss this - scrap it.

Does anyone here know anything about the people who are on the panel? Is it made up of people from different political parties? People from the industry? Or mainly people from the ANC?

The panel includes:

Professor Muxe Nkondo (chairman); - "disgraced former vice-chancellor of Venda University who was forced to pay back money he spent on a credit card he had obtained illegally. He also lied about his PhD."
Dr Patricia Hanekom; - Wife of Minister Derek Hanekom.
Adv John Ngcebetsha; - Sandi Majali's spindoctor.
Dr Vuyo Mahlati; - President of International Women's Forum South Africa.
Dr Luci Abrahams;
Professor Fiona Tregenna; - "Professor in the Department of Economics and Econometrics at the University of Johannesburg."
Dr Anna Mokgokong; - "Co-founder and executive chairperson of Community Investment Holdings, multi-billion rand BEE investment company"
Dr John Sampson; - "Civil and transportation engineer, MD of Traffic Technology Africa, a BEE company."
Ms Lauretta Teffo; - "MD at LMT Progressive Developments, a BEE town planning company"

Thanks So ignoring the first few, the rest don't seem too bad and actually have some kind of academic merit?

Panel seems hand picked. All seem wealthy judging by credentials so etolls have no cost bearing on them.

Panel needs to be more demograhic.

The ANC pension fund I hear has funds in etolls - if this is true, it makes you think. Etolls not going anywhere.

When we meet with the panel… we will discuss that it is a matter of public interest

Public interest is to NOT have E-Tolls, to use the fuel levy that we already pay and to use the TAX that we already pay for the reasons that we are expected to pay them.

I've said this before and I'll say it again...

Expect an outcome that has about the usefulness as saying "chickens came before eggs, except for the eggs that came before chickens, which in fact came before chickens except of course for those chickens that came before eggs". Then there will be a 12 man sub committee investigating the findings of this committee who will in fact report that "there are no eggs". This will result in another sub committee investigating the findings of the sub committee's sub committee and they will in turn report that "...there are eggs, but not chickens". Nando's will get in on the action with a short-lived add that will outrage several members of parliament to the point where members of the Economic Chicken Fighters (ECF) will be thrown out of parliament for supporting their own "bring your KFC to work" day and the add will be pulled for being distasteful. By the time this is done, many MyBroadband articles will have been written about what various members of each committee had to say, which we will complain about saying that the articles state absolutely nothing, which would be true, yet be unfair as they are reporting on absolutely nothing and in the end...
...you'll still get an etoll bill.

What a waste.
