E-toll SMS and e-mail bill warning

Me too...

I've got a theory that, if SANRAL is in fact using an e-natis db that's ~2 years old, because I bought my car in mid 2012 they don't have my details... when did you purchase your cars?

Mine registered December 2013... but my mom has received sms's and her car was registered around August 2013 in Mpumalanga.

Bought mine May 2013. Haven't received any correspondence what so ever.

Haven't read every single eTroll fact ect. but it seems to me that the pressure was on to start paying back the huge loan amount, so they went live with a system that was not ready yet. Correct?

So far my theory holds true then ;) Not sure if it helps, although if they have no contact details, how are they going to invoice me within 39 days as per their legal obligation...?

I assume if no invoice is sent within the 39 days, no payment due ;)

Unlikely - the system was installed and ready to go from 2012 already. The only thing that delayed it was repeated court challenges. SANRAL has had more than enough time to trial the system so any stuff ups are not due to a rush job but rather to sheer incompetence.

House is too busy fixing his etoll account that has been triple charged with fake license plate numbers
A friend just checked his e-toll account - and there is another car with fake number plates - busy trying to get the mess fixed.

My wife received one of SCAMRAL's sms threats. The car registered in her name hasn't left the drive way in December, due to a blown head gasket...

My sister is in a similar position, but she told Sanral to prove to her that her car passed under the gantries, and that they must sort out the mess themselves, unless they are prepared to pay her for her time. HKGK

Based on the amount of people here and in the press reporting erroneous amounts or amounts that they could not possibly have incurred, it seems that the system is seriously FUBAR. You might expect a few isolated cases, but so many?

The number of cloned number plates in Johannesburg alone has been estimated to be as high as 100 000, says JPSA chair Howard Dembovsky.

Eish

Now I wonder what Nazir Alli's number plate is, actually no, must not think this, it would be highly illegal, out of my head evil thoughts.
:D

Is it true that if you drive under the gantry in a Monza GSi then they actually credit your e-toll account?

An some, like me, have not seen or heard anything from SANRAL whatsoever.

I haven't been through the tolls much as its not on my way to work but I have been through a few times. Still waiting for a bill!! Been about 4 weeks now

I think I went through 6 this holiday. The admin fees they are going to incur will be way more than the R30 they are going try and get from me.

What a total pain in the butt for everyone. Well done those masterminds who concocted this nightmare scheme.

As if people's lives aren't already busy enough, everyone is now lumbered with a whole bunch more pointless, wasteful and needless admin.

My wife also received an SMS asking her to pay an outstanding R157.00, although she has never used the toll roads.

Cloned plates? Who knows...this whole e-toll system is a joke.
