E-toll will kill you

The SA Private Ambulance and Emergency Services Association has condemned Sanral’s insistence that non-government ambulances fit e-tags

Red tape for red lights

Here's the thing - tying up medical administrators with another piece of intractable red tape will cause them to make mistakes in other areas. If they spend hours on the phone to sort out their etoll, that's hours not spent checking that the vehicles have fuel, that there are sufficient supplies, etc. It adds up, and it will cause pain.

Anything to do with emergency and public transport are exempted from paying. I wouldn't know what paperwork is required. Proof of Registration of every vehicle etc.

No, they're not. You need to read the article...

Nothing to see here, just the ANC taking the country & its citizens down another notch with their stupidity.

And then the bastard wANCers bemoan the price of private healthcare going up. Well, there is a direct reason for that, you villainous snakes.

There is another thread for this where I asked, but I'll ask again. How does e-tolling a possible cause of death? Someone mentioned congested alternative routes, but that has nothing to do with emergency services not being exempt from e-tolls?

It's right there in the article.... what don't you understand?...
They will force private ambulance services to use alternative routes… it will lead to delays in responses to emergencies

Assuming that you have to pay for the ambulance service the e-toll fees are probbaly negligible when compared to their other fees.
They may get substantial though if they would be marked up by their profit margins.

Vusi Mona you are obviously a cANCer lacky out to make money for your masters....... igues medical aid is going to go up.

igues medical aid is going to go up.

It always goes up, but I doubt e-toll can have THAT much of a difference to premiums. Medical aids will just try to make more money on top of e-tolls if they could.

I don't understand what the fuss is about. Emergency vehicles (like public transport vehicles) are exempted from tolls. They do however need to fit an etag so that they are correctly identified and not charged. In this case etag != etoll. Anyone who thinks otherwise probably hasn't read the regulations properly.

Question though - what happens with emergency services and the traditional toll gates?

Vaguely related...these flying squad okes are intense as f:

They have to be - the flying squad are immediate response units. Time is critical.
Well yeah, still I wasn't expecting it to be quite that hectic as in the vid. They're clearly taking a lot of chance to get there asap.
