Johannesburg - The North Gauteng High Court has granted the Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance leave to appeal in the Supreme Court of Appeal against a previous judgment made by the high court.

"The order I make after some consideration is the following: leave is granted to the applicants to appeal to the Supreme Court of Appeal against my previous judgment handed down on the 13th of December last year," Judge Louis Vorster said.

He deferred the matter of costs to the Supreme Court of Appeal.

Vorster did not detail his reasons for the judgment, but would, however, provide written reasons when requested.

Really need to hear the details of the judgement. I'm very curious as to why Vorster would not disclose the details of the judgement publicly...

He probably thinks the govt did not give him enough "grease" to lube the wheels of Justice! :D

Hopeful .. but planning to resist our skelm government on the highways anyway.

So does SANRAL now have to hold off implementing e-tolling until the appeal is heard?

Not sure but the Department of Transport still has to determine the final tariffs and evidently this is still to be debated when Parliament resumes on February 10.
Once the tariffs are announced by DOT the tolling can start within 14 days.
