Hi guys,

Recently bought me one of these, quite nice (only have EDGE here though)

There is a software upgrade that you can do, but it fails to download 2-3 files. This has happened over and over again (same files)

Anyone have some tricks up their sleeves so I can get the newest release?

I see MTN changed the message you get from *141# to only show your prepaid airtime available and not including the bandwidth. So the Fast Link utility is pretty much useless (unless it's been upgraded on the release I can't download)

Any ideas?

Also a quick question, I see on the Fast Link software I can buy extra bandwidth, but the lady at the shops said I can only do that once a month and have to buy a new sim card and load that with the additional bandwidth.

Now is she lying? Or if she's not, how ****ing gay is that of MTN? Aren't you guys running out of prepaid numbers anyway? 071 is now a new range I see but hell, you'd save ALOT of numbers like that if you just give us the option to load additional bandwidth without the "having to wait 30 days" before we can do that.... erf

I agree that it sucks as well.

A person should be able to buy as many bundles as they want.

But changing the *141# is just plain dumb. Even using the *141*1# message to check data is dumb. It doesn't give you any benefit whatsoever. It doesn't even tell you when the bundle will expire.

Maybe they just want to irritate their customers.

(1) MTN only allows you to top up every 30 days - so keep a stack of SIMMS on hand (there only R1)

(2) 071 has been split up with VC (lions share) and MTN - also 074 has also been allocated to VC + MTN ... and you wonder why. Also SIMM recycling is now happening at 90 days for the networks, so don't bother topping up a SIMM you cannot remember when last you used.

Thats exactly my point. Save some money MTN. Implement multiple topups per month on the prepaid cards. You'll save a lot of time and effort in recycling sim cards (as well as pissing less and less people off if they have to leave the country for longer than 90 days and return to find their number missing)

And it's LESS effort for the public. Fine. Sim card is R1. Whoopie. I still need to find a place that has stock (already checked my MTN shops in the area) and physically go buy one.

Okay, so now I have 3 on hand each with some prepaid gigs on there so I won't run out. wtf?

It's like when telkom had the whole 3gb per account and thats it policy. You'd think they'll learn

I heard that multiple data bundle topups are now available from MTN since the beginning of December.
