It's unholy, and nothing good will come of it. Trust me on this.
I have tried it plugged directly into the PC - only then will Vista detect the dongle.
Vista now detects and use it in GPRS/EDGE only, nothing else.
Ubuntu kicks dust in Vista's eyes with WCDMA speeds... and Ubuntu have absolutely NO issues with the dongle being on a 2m USB extension cable.
