E220 Crashing WIN32

Hi

This is driving me absolutely nuts. My Huawai E220 causes my "Generic Host Process for WIN32 services" to crash. My laptop works fine on the network at the office and everywhere else. It is only when I am connected and after some time. sometime a minute and sometimes after a few hours.

Is there anybody out there that can help perhaps. The MTN call centre was of NO use...

It could be that you are being hit by a worm while connected to the internet. Make sure you have XP SP2 and go to Windows Update and install all your patched.

Find the firmware update for the device.

Maybe the Vodacom one will work.

I wouldn't use the Vodacom firmware if you have an MTN SIM, see this thread.

If you want to try updating the firmware to the Vista compatible version from MTN, there are links in this thread. It is not for Vista only, it still works with XP and 2000.

I've had this happen to me as well. Have to reboot after the error before it will work again. will try the updates.
