Hi all

I need some urgent help from some of the MyADSL guru's. Please note I'm a complete newbie.

Yesterday I finally got my E220 USB modem. I had a terrible time trying to install. As soon as I plugged it in, it would hang my laptop. Unplug it and the laptop was usable again. Tried absolutely everything without any luck. Finally downloaded software from the Huawei page. It replaced the Vodaphone dashboard with the Huawei dashboard. The good news is that when I plug the modem in now it no longer hangs the laptop.

Do I need any specific settings for the dashboard? It asked me to setup a new profile, which I did. The only settings included were: Authentication number: *99#. Do I need any other settings? When I click on connect, it gives me an error: A connection to the remote computer could not be established, so the port used for this connection was closed...

This is so frustrating. I've spent more than 12 hours trying to sort this out. So close and yet so far.

I would greatly appreciate if you could give me some advice on what to do next. Many thanks!

Use this number *99***16# instead

How does this differ from *99# ???

I'm using *99# with apn of "internet", which works fine for me (Huawei Mobile Connect software).

TIA
I was wondering why the 16, I would have expected *99***# to be sufficient.

@v3g, what's your take on this one?
