Hi All

I have been somewhat successfull in using my E220 modem on OpenSUSE 10.3. Initially I had the problem of it seeing the fake CDROM which I got fixed by installing the Huawei.tar file. I can see my modem as /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/ttyUSB1.

Anyway I confirgure the modem on KPPP and I can run the terminal enter my pin at+cpin='xxxx' command and I can even check my signal strength. I get 17,99 of signal strength. At this point I am very happy since I am getting somewhere.

Right now I setup my account and click connect on KPPP and it dails I get to the connect message and then it dies with a error Protocol-Reject for 'Compression Control Protocol' (0x80fd) received the modem then decides to hang up and well that is how far I get.

I spoke to vodacom's Data helpdesk last night and got the usual we dont support Linux story however I did go through the account configuration with them. They said the autoconfigure the DNS so no address needed. They also said I should use PAP/CHAP authentication types. The short of it I set up the account the way they informed me.

When I google the error above I get about 64 hits which is not a good sign. Anyone here got any ideas?
