Last 2 days i am having trouble browsing i got full signal 5 bars on and i connect via HSDPA some times it jumps to 3g and i live close to the tower.

Still runing on the old software that i got with the modem is it a must to load 7.6 update cant find a direct link on mtn website.

Wondering anyone else geting same problem i live in boksburg area almost next to tower.

I would like some tips how to increase my latency small things that can tweak it a bit without messing it up.

I got the 2gig deal from MTN a year ago do you guys know when i can get a upgrade and is there a new type (better modem than e220)?

Would love to increase my latency but telkom is not a option i am not allowed to install a land line were i stay.

And thx for keeping these forums alive with all the winers me being one but most suport i got was from here :)

Could be part of the problem I have...Here in KZN some MTN no's are completely off the internet :(

On the very bottom right of the dashboard. Click on this and go to "Check for updates" You must be online.

Set it to "3g only" in preferences. If you close to a tower your speeds should be flying (E220 is fine no need for new modem) unless of course there's tornado like wind but that you can do nothing about.

Could indeed be part of a wider problem -- although the day (July 17) started off fine, I'm again experiencing problems sending mail through the MTN server.

I got it set on best speed availble but it never jumps to edge its stays between 3g and HSDPA in my house.

I got the updates its say its 7 meg a sec now but i dont see a increase in my gaming latency or my browser?

I'm in the North Eastern suburbs of Jo'burg and I haven't been able to download now for 8 days. I can connect fine and pinging websites brings back intermittent responses, but I cannot surf or download email. I have also changed the APN with no result. I've also tried using my phone as a modem and had no luck, so it's definitely not the E220 that I'm using. MTN is aware of the problem and they keep on assuring me that it will be fixed, but nothing happens. It's definitely a network problem, as I was told the other night by 1555 that the technicians were 'refreshing' batches of numbers. I am obviously not the only one who is experiencing this.

Thank God I have a Vodacom data card on which I can load a prepaid data bundle, otherwise I'd be up the creek. And I used to think Vodacom was bad ...... :( I also have no doubt that I will be charged the full amount this month for bandwidth that I won't have been able to use.
