E5200(2.5GHz) @ 1.6GHz

I have an Intel E5200 dual core processor on a Gigabyte G31M-S2C motherboard, everything is fine except that CPU-Z tells me it is running at 1.6GHz max. When I open Gigabyte's EasyTune program it tells me the speed is just below 2.5GHz, but it shows FSB = 200 and ratio = 8 i.e. 1.6GHz. As far as I know the ratio should be 12.5 --> 200 x 12.5 = 2.5GHz. As soon as I change the FSB speed in easytune the speed drops to 1.6GHz, it does not allow me to change the ratio. Also while booting up the CPU is identified as 1.6GHz.

Check in the BIOS if something like Speed Step is enabled, could be throttling your CPU (when you're not using it much).

Try the bios. not sure how to get into yours but, it should be one of these combinations.
Then go through the listings there, check fsb and multipliers. And why not try yo overclock it a bit while your'e there.

Multiplier was set to 8 in the BIOS, changed to 12.5 and running at 2.5GHz. Thanks.
