This afternoon my good friend put me in a technology frenzy.. he informed me that the price of the Q6600 shall be drastically reduced by suppliers in mid July, this is two weeks after my purchase of the E6600  What I need to know is that is it really worth going down the Quad core route just yet? I mean to my knowledge there are no real apps that will benefit from this, or are there?

I game online and occasionally play a single player FPS or Racing Sim with fairly decent graphics. The positive news is that there may be someone that's prepared to buy my E6600 in a couple of weeks, for around R200 less, should I let it go and go for the Quad core?? I mean besides getting more scores in benchmark apps, will I benefit from this move?

Ultimately I want the best in-game quality (AA full, AF full etc) and decent frame rates. ;)

Quad Core will help in no way with gaming for quite a while and I just read a thread on AnandTech which says they run quite hot and dont overclock that well...

I say you should keep your CPU xeo, unless youre hecticly into multitasking which doesnt seem the case.

If anything a newer graphics card will do. Lately I saw brand new 8800GTX go for R4500!

8900's are due to come out sometime around, I think then will be a good time ;)

let me ask you guys this:

could a hdd handle lets say 4 process's on your pc?

doubt a price cut will come soon 8800gtx

razor plz link me to that 4500 for a gtx

i am signed up with about 7 different dealers and the only one under 5k ex vat is sahara

who sells them for 4.5k?

i would sell my current card and buy it tomorrow

Why does the end my post say:

965P-DS3,E6600,2x1G Transend,7800GT,waiting 4 zalman 9700 & VF900

I did not write that in my original thread!!!

Its your 'sig'... edit it in your profile ;)

Killa its almost under your nose :p

Check at sgs under buy/sell. Its the Asus 880gtx

Thanx Razor ;) BTW to killadoob: I'm certain the GTX will come down in price in around 3 months

lol razor

i thought u meant new man

naaa man i doubt it hey, if they dont release their new card it wont

they also dont need to release their new product to soon due to ATIamd being so far behind but who knows hey

intel have price's and are cutting again but that because they know the core 2 killa is coming

theres a few games that benefit from quad core 'Supreme commander and Crysis and few more but otherwise you will be fine with your Core 2

FSB 1333 on 6750 better than Qcore??

Does any1 have the E6750 running @ full 1333 fsb, as opposed to the q6600 ?? Logics tell me that the 6750 will kick the quad in outright gaming performance, or won't it??
