Hi im going to upgrade my pc soon just wodering what the better cpu is between the E8400 and Q9300

if you have the cash get the quadcore

i went from quadcore to e8400 and while the e8400 is faster i find my system boots slow and all round pc performance is worse

The E8400 seems to hold the lead. Not by much. Though I suspect that will change when programs start to be optimised for quad core in general. when that will be is the key question though.

quad core.

Killa whats your system like these days?

i'd probably get the e8400, damn good cpu and its got potential for OC, can OC to about 4.0ghz

well i dont agree

i wish i had never sold my q6600

awesome cpu and only when you go from dual core to quadcore do you notice a difference

everday chores takes slightly longer, the booting takes longer

only thing thats makes me happy is 8400 is better at graphics programs and video encoding so if you into that sort of thing the e8400 is for you, orwise go qauddie

as soon as i got some bucks again im going for the q9300

if i had to do it over i would not have sold my quaddie and bought an e8400

you have no idea how much better a system performances with 4 cores as opposed to 2

so if you want my e8400 i'll let it go for 1000 bucks :)

Also depends which mobo you have. Remember the nforce 6 series mobo's can only support the dual cores so if you have one of those you can only go 8400 since the 9300 isn't supported.

my bad. i was actually thinking of the E8500 (some stats of E8500, Q6600 and Q9900 performance). On the assumption that the E8500 is slower than than the E8400, I think I would go with the Q9300 in that case.
