I am running an iBurst PCMCIA modem on my HP laptop.
Is it possible to use this setup as an access point for my E90 and how do I set it up?
Help / advice appreciated.
The most likely approach is to setup ICS on your machine which sets it up as a DHCP server (in the 192.168.0.x range). You then setup WLAN on your E90 and look for the network your laptop is broadcasting ..and, if all goes well, you'll get an IP address on your phone and can then browse from there with your laptop as the gateway.
(I haven't been perverse enough to try this one out myself on my laptop/UTC & N80, but it almost sounds interesting enough to try!)
Hey , let me know if this works. I tried to do it a few months ago on my toshiba but gave up after 2 hours.
Usually laptops dont do dhcp so you need to assign fixed IP addresses and have brige set up to "share" the internet connection. All gets messy with windows which is getting worse as a system.
