E90 vs TyTN II ... a year later ...

Remember the "wars" on this site (and elsewhere) between E90 owners/fans and TyTN II owners/fans? It's a year down the line now ... which device would you say ended up tops?
 
Would you still get an E90? Does it have a successor, and if not, isn't about time?
 
Personally, I haven't seen a TyTN II in a long time ... but I see people with E90's almost daily. There were forumites who dumped their E90's for the TYTN II. I would like to hear from them.

E90 is still alive and kicking. MTN and Vodacom still offer it. I reckon the N97 can be considered an E90 replacement. I cannot see how a new E9x can do/look different from the N97.

Wonder if we'll see an E90-like phone with double touch screens on the inside ... the keyboard being a touchscreen also. Crazy idea? Could be interesting.
 
Is it worth getting now? Compared to:

Xperia
N96
E71
Touch Pro

I cant make up my mind :(
 
Brawler, it depends ...

The E71 is a very good device ... but it's keyboard is too small for my fingers so it will never work for me. The E90's got a great keyboard but it's much bigger/heavier as a result. The E90's large screen is great for web surfing. The E90 is a serious device for serious users. For fun get the N96. Get the N96 if multimedia is what you're after (and typing is not a major part of your phone usage).

Piesang will tell you not to go for the Xperia as he had a bad xperia with his.

I wouldn't go for a WinMo device (Touch Pro) until the next version (7) is out ... but that's just my opinion.

Waiting for the N97 will be worth it ... and don't forget the Blackberry Bold (a very good device worth having, if you can get one).
 
I think it's a no-brainer which ended on top. Where are all those TyTN II owners/fanboi's? Singing praises of other phones now.... Cerainly a lack of them in this thread.
 
I have both the TyTn II and the Nokia E71. Each one has its merits. Where the TyTn II scores is the huge selection of 3rd party software. However, its downfall is slow response and what really drives me up the wall with the TyTn is the lack of a hardware keyboard. This lack of a keyboard is especially noticeable when dailing places where you have to select 1 for this, 2 for that and so on. By the time you decide which number is applicable, the displayed keyboard is dead and you have to enable the display again. It is also very difficult to see the displayed keyboard in sunlight. I think this goes for all cellphones without proper hardware keyboards.

The E71 is a beautifully, fast and functional cellphone. It is almost perfect in every respect. Don't let the small keyboard put you off. I have big hands and have no trouble typing on it.
 
Still using my TyTn II, and still loving it. I feel that the reason there are fewer TyTn II users responding is that 2008 has been a really good year for WinMo phones (at least in terms of new models). The market has literally exploded. There is still no replacement for the E90, whereas the TyTn II has been superceded by Touch Pro, Xperia and so on. This is not a bad thing IMO.
 
I have TyTnII and the E90. Recently got a Touch Pro. I'm not very impressed by the TP so far.
Typical lousy WM battery life. No VGA video recording. AGPS on the E90 is snappy. I get a lock in 10 seconds. No such luck on the TP.
The battery lid of the TP also isn't flat so you can't put it on a table to use it.
Stylus is short and somewhat uncomfortable to use.
 
I still have my Tytn II - and am glad I swapped in my E90.

Probably more people with E90's is because Nokia takes forever to update this phone - and HTC, etc. come out with newer, better devices a lot faster.
 
How can you expect a N series device to be a replacement for the E90 is a dumb question IMHO.

I currently use a E90 (issued to me by MTN)
My other phone is a E71 (used on Vodacom)

Nokia N series phones for me are a waste of time , I've used a N95 for a month and was'nt impressed with it (its more of a gimmick with a 5mb pixel camera and everyone who is technologically challenged using it) whereas with a E series , the person using it at least takes the time to understand the features and how it can be of benefit to them.

Also BlackBerry Connect (which works beautifully is only support on compatible E series devices aside from the E71 which rivals the BlackBerry Bold)
 
I've played around with my friend's newer Nokia's, including the E90.
I have to agree with fismail, there's a lot of silly gimmicks on these phones.
I used to be a huge Nokia fan until I got an HTC... Suppose if I hadn't, I'd still be using Nokias cos they solid reliable phones.

But even that seems to be changing lately. My mum's 6500 packed up for no reason after 2 weeks... Maybe it was an isolated incident...
