EA servers down

I need some help here guys.

I have recently connected my PS3 to our ADSL and attempted to play Fifa 2010 on-line but keep getting "The EA servers are currently down, please try again later.".

Having looked on a few forums this seems to be a fairly common problem, but I also came across a thread that indicated the servers for Fifa 2010 have been turned off permanently because EA want us to buy their new titles.

Can anyone provide any clarity on this for me?

mooB, EA unfortunately do this on a consistent basis. They even shut down the server for the EA Sports title MMA and the game isn't even 2 years old. So yes, like you mentioned, they want you to buy their newest games and there isn't anything that you can do about playing Fifa 2010 online any more :(

Either buy Fifa 2012 or play nothing at all.

Are there any other titles where the risk of this happening is lower?

Well it depends what you like playing or intend on buying then I might be able to give you an indication :)
 
I was looking to get a soccer game of some sort to play on-line. These seem to be the easiest and best to play in co-op mode and a favorite of mine! :)
