Until recently my gf has made do with an ethernet over power wifi adapter that I had bought her about two years ago. This is because even though the main router is less than 15 meters away, the walls seem to mess with the signal like crazy, so she can't get signal in her room. Unfortunately her parent's house (that she currently lives in) is quite old, and it seems like some of the wiring is degrading in the part of the house where her room is. She can use the TP-link adapter in the rest of the house, but she says it's starting to get temperamental when she plugs it into her room or the even the room next to hers.

What would be the easiest way to extend the wifi network? Should I look at just getting another router and setting it up as an extender? Should I try get my hands on a Ubiquiti device even if I can't mount it to a wall?

The WiFi Mesh solutions might work best in this case.

Something like this

Although you do get cheaper kits.
Maybe check out some reviews on the ones available in your price range.I would recommend 3, as one needs to be plugged into the main router, and one in her room so could strategically place the 3rd somewhere in-between

I'm currently using 2 of these myself

Works pretty well
