You'l need some toothpicks and a jar. Stick three toothpicks in the side of the device, about halfway down -- you want half of the device to be under water. Set it on the rim of the jar and fill it up. Refill the water as it evaporates and keep the device in a bright window or outside. It will begin to root anywhere from a few days to several months. Good luck!!

Easiest way is to install a rooted kernel with Odin. Very easy.

Huh? It's the easiest program ever. You just select the file and click start. That's it.

Hey mercurial, he has not used it so he won't know how easy it is with odin. One day when he tries he will know

milonak - try it once and get a feel for it. It's really not complicated with odin

Although Odin is easy to use its much more convenient to use Recovery, no wires, no pc needed and my flash counter doesn't increase with each kernel that gets flashed. I personally don't see a use for Odin when my phone is perfectly capable of doing what I want. I have always flashed new roms and kernels via recovery on all my phones because it's easy and convenient.

Haven't tried that yet. I assume you don't have to unzip like with odin? Can you give a quick "how to" pls?

There is nothing to it really. You boot your phone into Recovery mode and select the Rom or Kernel zip that you want to flash from either your internal or external storage. Wait one or two minutes for it to finish then reboot your phone when it's done. You can however only flash zips that's meant to be flashed via Recovery.

Where do you get the appropriate rom and kernel zips to flash?

yeah recovery is by far the best way to go.

whoever has created the rom provides a zip. you download it to your device. boot into recovery and select to install it. no need to know which file goes where in odin.
