Easy Equities good or bad?

You’ll find this interest rates are restrictive and have pretty low caps.

Everyone with a bit of financial savvy already has a TymeBank account maxed out with the 200k allocation for this very reason.

Have Tymrbank increased the limit? I thought it was R100K?

Would you care to share? For those of us without any financial savvy =]

Sorry, but then what's the "maxed out with the 200k allocation" related to?

Many of these account often have a maximum balance allowed to offer such high interest rates.

Or as per your table crazy high minimums to make use of the in the first place.

So at some point you max out the option to gain that interest rate and your hand is forced to use something else.

Also there are tax reasons and limitations for having various products in place.

Correct and also remember that the first R23800 is exempt from income tax. Anything over and above this will be taxed at your marginal tax rate, thus somewhat eroding those high returns. If not mistaken, income received in the Retail Savings bonds will also be deemed interest income?

"Interest from a South African source, earned by any natural person under 65 years of age, up to R23 800 per annum, and persons 65 and older, up to R34 500 per annum, is exempt from income tax."

For this reason you want a mix of assets and the also the reason why you don't just put all your savings in interest income products.

Damn, tried FF and chrome and both had the same issue. Tried again now and all good again!

It does that to me sometimes.

Whilst we're here; anyone using the USD account on EE?

Considering heading against the Rand and buying some US stocks, with US currency.

Surelt the 40K CGT per year only works if you make R40k in gains in the year? Not always guaranteed in tumultous years.

Yeah, I am playing the long game. Going to hold on whatever I choose now for at least the next decade.

Thanks for the tips. Will take a look once I have put some USD in there.

Just out of interest, how many people here regularly buys out shares and reinvest immediately again just to take profits?
