As from yesterday, I am experiencing extreme problems downloading files from www.easynews.com.

Whether I am using DAP, free download manager or Opera's transfer, the files download until about 90% completion and then nothing happens, even after leaving the download running for hours.

Anybody else experiencing a similar problem? Any suggestions on where to look for the problem?

Your help is appreciated.

You tried contacting easynews directly or on their site? Im not sure they check these forums.

No I did not because there are no notices published on their site. I suspect it could be a Saix Telkom induced problem. My ISP is Web Africa and I am using a SAIX account.

I have been getting slow speeds from easynews lately. I have only been able to get 270KB/sec with 10 connections. I used to get 425 KB/sec from them.

SAIX or IS? Are you using the http or nntp service?

I use both, but in this case I'm talking about the http service (and also in this case that would be saix that I'm using). I use it when I want to download fairly small stuff quickly.

I only download via http using the zip manager - no problems.

Yip - the 2GB limitation is common with quite a few apps - probably some inherit size limitation. The zip manager breaks the files up into nice 1.9GB chunks.

Try a download on port 81 - it works better for me on the odd occasions when IS's proxy seems to be interfering with things.

There goes that little refuge. :o

Some things just seem to work better the less people draw attention to them esp when it comes to IS and their shaping. ;)

Oh OK. I'm not really one for trying to hog things too much for myself at the expense of another on this forum who is having a problem. I also doubt that a few extra users trying that port is going to have any effect at all - IS are quite capable of seeing which ports generate traffic, and the 3-4 extra users this thread might add will not be noticed. It is common sense anyway to an Easynews user - kinda hits you in the face in the Zip Manager.

Neither am I - thats why I PM'ed him the very same info earlier. ;)

I'm not into that sort of secretive stuff - it seemed more up your alley, what with the PMs and all!
The guy received the assistance he needed which is all that matters.
