Good day,

I am used to making my own meals at home but I admit there are days when I am tired. Are there any restaurants that serve nice steaks but NOT cooked in the usual seed oils such as sunflower, canola etc ?

Ideally I'd love steaks and vegg cooked with tallow or ghee and my friend in the US told me that there are some outlets that do that there. I wonder if South Africa has such ? (Im in Pretoria East but Cape Town recommendations also welcome).

Any of the good steak houses likely use butter (close enough to ghee)

Call these and ask.

To be honest steak is the easiest meat in the world to do.

go to woolies or kingsmeat deli in pretoria get a beautiful steak get your pan pretty much just about smoking hot and you will have a steak in less than 8 min I do 2 min a side I like rare and then let it rest a bit. Done Simple as that. Then use the oil of your choosing.

With regards to the smoking hot thing, don't do this with a non-stick pan. Theres chemicals in these things that get released at very high temperatures.
