Hi guys

I came across this website: Ecotek South Africa.

Do any of you know about this CB-26P valve?

On modern cars the CB-26P device works in at least two distinct ways to improve performance, it collapses the manifold vacuum allowing briefly for a richer mixture on the re-application of a trailing throttle - thus significantly improving throttle response - and it creates an element of off-throttle turbulence (increasingly being used by Ford and Mercedes Benz in their performance engines) making acceleration smoother and more urgent.

Improved petrol consumption is the 'Holy Grail' of motoring gadgets - many have claimed it but few have proved it conclusively due to the lack of exact repeatability in practical tests. The Ecotek CB-26P has long been acknowledged to be capable of improving fuel consumption on older cars but these effects are considerably reduced in modern EFi cars where combustion is controlled electronically - the more modern the car the tighter and more accurate the controls.

The effects of the CB-26P have been comprehensively tested in the Prodrive Laboratories and details of the tests are here. They concluded: "The addition of the Ecotek CB-26P device saw a reduction in both fuel consumption and CO2 emissions in all cases".

Thanks. :)

Any after market fuel saving technology that claims to increase power should be questioned. Car manufacturers do more research than these guys and so the the engineers in F1.

This is a gimmick IMO.

I read a lot about it on UK forums. Basically, it doesn't work (apart from the placebo effect).
