So after the Edgars (Canal Walk) revamp the store looks very good.

BUT try and get any assistance at the footwear section...both male and female. Male bottom floor - I spent almost 40 minutes in that section and never once saw an assistant. I was interested in the Doc Martins (from R1300-R2300). Seems like they just don't want our money. Female top floor - my SO tried to get asssitance there on two separate days, only one assistant trying to help scores of people.

On the three occasions I visited this store the alarm in the cellphone section was blaring non stop. I lie it stopped for 10 seconds and continued its blaring.

What a useless store.
 
Had the same experience about 2 1/2 years ago and walked out and went elsewhere. Seems nothing has changed in that store.
 
Same here in Johannesburg at one of their stores! B4 they renovation the store was fantastic, you would pay for your items and be on your way now you have wait on average about 30-45 minutes during weekends to be served and worse if you want to return stuff. People want to purchase items but are very impatient waiting in a queue they should get more P.O.S(point of sale) terminals and staff during the weekend but heard that Edcon have retrenched people :(.

I think thats pretty much al Edgars, the staff are never around to help, you need to find some one and inevitably the one you find doesn't know the section.
Though I have to admit there was one guy at the Northgate Edgars he worked at the perfume counter but would help us out for every department.

Funny enough the till points were fully staffed, no waiting. But if there is nobody to help you find an item you wouldn't be in the pay point queue. ;)
 
Out of the 3 pairs of boots from the same brand that I liked, Edgars didn't have anything even resembling a size 6 :mad:
 
I was speaking to them about it the other day. The lady told me that they are being worked harder than ever due to recent countrywide layoffs. None of the contract workers' contracts were renewed. Only permanent staff remain. It seems that this is a cost cutting drive, but this thread would suggest that it is already costing them revenue.

Don't even bother with the bayside branch, the most useless edgars if I ever saw one. Never anyone to help, always long queues, boxes of crap lying everywhere, they always moving stuff around so you can never find anything in the same place and their kiddy section just plain sucks.

Ahh, I feel better already for that moan :p
 
at least Edgars haven't shortened their pants to shyt like Woolworths.
 
Now I am lost for words.

Someone from Edcon just phoned me and informed me they don't have the Doc Martins I am looking for and they only have grey ones at Cavandish. I never indicated which Doc Martins I was even looking at. These idiots deserve a prize for incompetence.
 
if i saw someone wanting to buy Doc Martins i would also not help them

You would be incompetent at your job then... how does that feel?


I was just checking out their ThankU card and points things, hahaha, so not worth the effort. Edgars is not for me. Prefer the clothes at the Woolworths.
