Editing my music mixes

Anyone know what software programs out there can be downloaded for free for Windows 7.
I would like to edit my music mixes to my desire, like pausing and removing and adding certain songs.

Would be grateful for all responses and answers.

I'd say start with Audacity.

Skip audacity and move straight to Reaper

Reaper, or also MuLab: http://www.mutools.com/mulab-downloads.html.

Audacity is great, but it's easier to do things in a DAW environment (Reaper, Mulab etc.) on a timeline where you can easily drag things around. You can do this in Audacity...but Reaper or Mulab will be easier .
