editting/cutting a video

so i have a few video clips that i've taken with my cellphone, i transferred them to my pc and changed the format over to avi...

..now i just want to edit the video a slight bit, by cutting off a few seconds at end as the clips are pretty good and i want to keep them but just cleaning up the video bit

what free software can i use to cut pieces off of the clips
