Hi, I am a first time poster.

Hope you can shed some light.

Education related question.

The engineering studies that the Tvet Colleges offer, especially Civil Engineering N4 to N6, is it worth anything?

Thanks

Depends what you want out of it.

The N courses pave the way for artisans and technicians to get a foot in the door of companies.

That said, someone who matriculates from a technical high school holds the equivalent of an N3. If you then decide to further your studies at a University of Technology (Technikon) you will complete S1 and S2 in your first year. An N6 is equivalent (but not the same) as an S2. So taking that into account, doing your diploma (3 year course incl. 1 year on the job training), will yield a higher level qualification, which you can turn into a degree if you do your B.Tech. (4 years total)

So that spells the path. All depends which bus stop you want to get off at.
