Anyone here an expert with this at all?

I've been tasked with setting up client-server at a school (they currently run it on a standalone non-domain joined Windows 8.1 Home laptop).

I've created a new 2012 R2 VM, given it enough CPU & RAM, installed & patched SAMS and the database, shared the folder with appropriate permissions & mapped a drive to the share on the clients... can get the application to run fine from the clients but I'm getting strange errors when trying to backup the database using the built in "Database Functions" button...





Local SAMS KZN support number just rings, emails go a day without answer, SAMS support forum hasn't activated my account despite follow up emails to them, so I'm turning to this forum for help?

Wow, now that's a blast from the past. I haven't seen SAMS in a very long time.

See if you can open the database file in Access and try and make a backup that way? Just as a workaround of course...I'll PM you a password to try for the actual DB.
