Johannesburg - Cosatu feels betrayed by the marriage between the DA and the EFF, president Sdumo Dlamini has told journalists.

"You are looking at the combination of the odds which have enjoined at one point [to] ensure the ANC does not stay in power... They even say they are happy with the devil. We feel betrayed because some of the parties... we voted for them on their ideological outlook."

Dlamini said the EFF has abandoned the principal and ideological outlook as a left formation.

He questioned how the DA and the EFF would handle a call for the ban of labour brokers or a national minimum wage.

"Who loses the worker? What you have deposited yourself to be in society wearing a red helmet, but at the alter of expediency you denounce that principle and workers suffer."

Dlamini, however, admitted that the federation was not at its best during the campaign for the local government elections.

He said a weaker alliance found itself in disarray and lacked the "required coherency" in applying strategy and tactics.

"All this combined with increasingly united counter-revolutionary forces comprising of white monopoly capital. Political opposition supported by western imperialism has placed our revolution on a crossroads," Dlamini said.

EFF leader Julius Malema announced earlier this month that the party would vote with the DA in hung municipalities, which resulted in the ANC losing control of three key metros.

Explaining its decision, Malema said the DA was a better devil than the ANC.

Huh?!

Well you can't fault him on that, because it is true. The ANC has repeatedly demonstrated they don't care about the poor or the country as a whole.

You pals at the ANC have refused to ban labour brokers and institute a minimum for how long, Cde S'dumo? If anyone is betraying COSATU here it is COSATU leaders who are busy enjoying the high life of a capitalist.

There is no marriage, Cosatu must check their facts.

Any case, the action by the EFF should reduce corruption is South Africa, which is a win for everybody. If Cosatu is anti-corruption, as they claim, they should also support the DA.

There was no marriage - The EFF specifically avoided that.
What did they expect them to do? Not vote? Then we wouldn't have any government or service delivery?
Vote for the ANC? Then why do we need a separate party?
Come on wake up... it's kind of stupid thinking that has put them in such a bind.

Besides, isn't COSATU in alliance with the ANC? So what do they care? Why does the EFF owe them anything?

this is exactly why he is pissed.

Cosatu were sitting pretty and the top bosses were able to get their handouts paid to them because the ANC was in power and had access to funds to "buy" Cosatu votes.

EFF, voting with the DA, have just put a big dent in COSATU top management's paychecks
