EFT Payments: does account type matter?

So I have to pay somebody from my FNB account. As many people do they:
- Gave me the account number - good
- Gave me the Bank name - good
- Gave me the branch code - useless as everybody uses the global branch (and FNB auto-populates it)

They DIDN'T give me the account type. As they're using a Discovery Credit Card, I have no idea what to pick in the "Account type" field in FNB:



That got me thinking: does the account type even matter these days??

I always choose current as default. Account number and bank is what matters. And branch code but as you rightly pointed out, most of the time, banks have a default branch code already populated.
