The draft environmental impact assessment (EIA) report for the proposed 68 000-seater stadium in Green Point for the 2010 Soccer World Cup is expected to be released at the end of the week, with a proposed design of the stadium.
A parallel, unrelated study commissioned by Cape Town Mayor Helen Zille to assess the suitability of alternative sites - at Culemborg, Newlands, Athlone and Wingfield - is also expected to be released soon.
The EIA process is being conducted by an independent consulting firm on two sites on the Green Point common: the current stadium and the Metropolitan golf course.
The final scoping report was released last week, identifying the issues which require specialist investigation.
