Eish TP-Link attacks

What do you make of the Ubiquiti Dream Machine? Obviously I'll need access points.
Never used the Dream Machine because Tom Lawrence on Youtube says its kek. I don't have personal experience with it but have never been able to see a match for any of my requirements.
But Tom has a point, a pfsense/opnsense box might be a better option. Linus Tech Tips also uses a opnsense box.
The only problem in South Africa is the availability of cost effective Intel appliances. Maybe Amazon will correct that problem.

I did look at pfsense, would an Intel NUC be sufficient? Either a model with x2 ethernet or use an adapter like this: https://za.rs-online.com/web/p/network-cards/1385563
